Utkal Alumina Hosts International Women’s Day for Tribal Women

Tikiri(PR) In a heartwarming celebration of womanhood and cultural diversity, Utkal Alumina International Limited, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited of Aditya Birla Group, under its Mines CSR initiative organized an enriching event to mark International Women's Day for the tribal women of Andirakanch village on March 12th, 2024. With participation of over 1000 tribal women, the event was a resounding success, serving as a testament to the company's commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.
Reiterating Utkal Alumina’s commitment to supporting community development, Mr Mazhar Beig, Unit Head & President, Utkal Alumina & Aditya Alumina said, “As we honour the remarkable achievements and contributions of women worldwide, it is essential to recognize the challenges faced by tribal women and the incredible resilience they demonstrate every day. Let us reaffirm our commitment to supporting their empowerment, amplifying their voices, and creating opportunities for them to thrive.”
The celebration commenced with idea sharing sessions where tribal women were encouraged to voice their opinions, share their experiences, and discuss ideas for personal and community development. These sessions provided a platform for women to express themselves freely and contribute to decision-making processes, fostering a sense of empowerment and inclusion.
The event featured a captivating Dhimsa dance performance, a traditional tribal dance form indigenous to the region. The rhythmic beats and graceful movements of the dancers filled the atmosphere with joy and energy, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the tribal community.
A thought-provoking nukkad natak was also performed by local artists, addressing social issues such as gender equality, education, and women's empowerment. Through powerful storytelling and engaging performances, the street play aimed to raise awareness, challenge stereotypes, and inspire positive change within the community.
Addressing the contribution of Tribal Women, Ms Hina Beig, President, Ujjwal Utkal Ladies Club said, “In the heart of our tribal communities, you are the pillars of strength, the caretakers of traditions, and the driving force behind our collective progress. Your unwavering determination, perseverance, and grace inspire us all."
The International Women's Day celebration by Utkal Alumina International Limited exemplifies the company's dedication to promoting gender equality, fostering community engagement, and celebrating cultural diversity. By investing in the empowerment of tribal women, Utkal Alumina continues to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities.
