Balangir, 189 Battalion CRPF, Balangir (Odisha) organized "Civil Action Programs" on the theme of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: Desh Ki Hifazat – Desh ki Suraksha' at B/189, CRPF Khaparkhol and D/189 CRPF Harishankar, District-Balangir, Odisha. Through this programme radio sets, solar energy lanterns, essential medicines etc. were distributed to the needy people. On this occasion Shri Pawan Kumar Tiwari, Commandant-189 Battalion in the presence of Shri P.K. Sahu, Second-in-Command, Dr. Vinod Tandon, Deputy Commandant, Shri Rajiv Kumar and Shri Lakhwinder Singh, Asstt. Comdts 189 Battalion, CRPF distributed above articles to the needy people of Harishankar, Chanchalballi, Nuapali, Batipathat, Buromal, Brahmani, Turla, Tambipdar, Baghjharan, Nandupala, Dudungdhara, Baratiya, Lohordungiri, Jamunapali, Kandrabhata, Mahulpali, Sargipali, Maharapdar and Kudhurala villages. On this occasion Shri Pawan Kumar Tiwari, Commandant-189 Bn, CRPF assured the villagers and Sarpanchs of the respective villages and made them aware that if they face any kind of problem they can contact the Company Commander so that their problems can be resolved/sorted-out at the Company or Unit level otherwise their problem will be taken up to higher level/authority. People from different remote villages and nearby areas and other dignitaries attended the function. 

Civic Action Program-2022 was organized on the directions of IGP, Odisha Sector, CRPF, Bhubaneswar under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav which is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of Independence and the glorious history of the country's people, culture and achievements. It is pertinent to mention here that apart from carrying out operational activities to curb anti-national elements, 189 Battalion, CRPF Balangir (Odisha), undertakes various welfare activities for general wellbeing of public under the aegis of "Civic Action Program" to build and maintain cordial relations. Through these activities, CRPF inches closer to last and deprived section of the society. This creates an emotional bond between the security forces and the society. In the last years also, 189 Battalion, CRPF created goodwill among the public by distributing materials like blankets, books, clothes etc. in the interest of the common man.
